Perim was a star on her home planet, from a young age Perim was destined to become something big. All through her school life, she passed all subjects with ease and finished school at the age of 15 while everyone else finished at 18. Sacrificing time with family and friends in pursuit of further schooling, she moved away from home and went to the Trill Academy of Engineering and obtained a masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the age of 18.
Perim aspired to join Starfleet Academy. She was accepted and joined up at 18 and graduated at 22. In that time she got degrees in Navigation, Astrophysics, Stellar Cartography and skills in Leadership. In the Academy she got the highest overall rating for the year 2377.
After graduation, Perim applied to get a symbiant. More grueling competition than Starfleet was a shock to Perim but she enjoyed the challenge. From the 1000 specially selected only 16 got into the final trial program. Perim was the youngest at 23 but continued to get perfect scores until the last stage which she ranked 1st. There were 4 Symbiants avaliable but Dax symbiant was on route to Trill but had to be placed into another host or die, so only the Kell, Akra & Nora symbiants were avaliable. Perim selected Kell who was formally in Rear Admiral Kelvin Kell who was one of the only Flag officers to die in the dominion war.
After getting the symbiant she was offfered many positions on different vessels because of Perim's elite status in the Starfleet Academy program, but only one caught her attention. The Flagship USS Enterprise-E's first officer Commander William Riker was offering a Chief Helmsman position. She took it and served aboard for a year then was reassigned after the Insurrection incident at the briar patch to the USS Ultima as its Executive Officer.
