Weapons

Weapons may be either one handed or two handed. The advantage of one-handed weapons is that another item, such as a shield, can be used with it. It is even possible to have two one-handed weapons equipped at the same time. Usually one-handed weapons do not inflict as much damage however.

Weapons also vary in what type of damage they induce. The possible damage types are piercing, slashing, lashing, and bashing. The most common type is slashing whereas the least common is probably lashing. Piercing weapons generally inflict more damage and puncture armor easier than others. Lashing weapons usually make it easier to strike an opponent whereas bashing weapons usually allow the maximum strength bonus damage.

Not all weapons are created equal. Weapons may be made from different materials such as leather, wood, copper, iron, etc. The harder the material, the more damage it will inflict. Also, weapons cant be used forever (unless perhaps you manage to find a diamond dagger). Weapons have a certain amount of structure points that are broken down until the weapon completely breaks or is ruined. Depending on the material, a weapon may last a few battles or hundreds of battles. The various weapons also have different range capabilities. The longer the weapon the better (in general). It is much better to attack an enemy from as far away as possible so that injury might be avoided. Usually longer weapons are harder to maneuver though. Depending on the length, weight, and type of weapon, speed loss can occur in a battle. For instance, someone with a short sword is far more likely to swing it before someone has the chance to raise a halberd and chop someone.

After all that has been said, the following is a small list of the hundreds of possible melee and ranged weapon types:

Armor

There are seven possible hit areas in Everlasting Journey. Unlike other role-playing games, I tried to make this RPG as realistic as possible (yet as fun as possible). The hit areas are the head, torso (front stomach and chest), back, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Thus, if you are wearing a steel helmet and the rest of you is naked, the helmet does no good for an attack at your torso. Armor simply absorbs damage. Its not a hit or miss type of thing. If a piece of armor absorbs 8 points of damage and someone inflicts 12 damage, only 4 points are taken. Armor does have structure points the same way weapons do however. This means it will either need to be repaired (by someone with an Armorer skill, or a shop owner of some kind) or thrown away when broken. Heavier armor usually protects better, but it hinders a persons ability to move quickly. Also, some people cannot even wear certain types of heavier armor. It takes great strength to move properly in a full suit of plate mail.

Here are a few examples of armor pieces:

Leather Armguards

Copper Armguards

Wood Armguards

Iron Backplate

The list goes on and on. This is a list of the various material types mixed with the various location spots.
