Michael's Spring Break Journal
Spring Break
Hey all, this is where I'll be placing my journal from my Florida trip as soon as I get it all written in stuff, so keep checking back here for updates. They might not be posted for a while, so make sure you have patience. - Michael 3/30/03 The first day of our journey started out at 5:43 A.M. Eastern Time. I actually got out of bed at about 6:00 or so, but I woke up that early. Anyways, after finishing up packing and having breakfast and stuff, we all loaded in the van for the half an hour drive to the airport. Once we get to the airport, we all check our baggage and stuff and my bag had to be checked extra for some odd reason (I think they thought i was carrying drugs). Then we hopped on a plane that only fit like 25 people, a turbo jet I guess it's called. It was really loud and annoying, but not quite as bad as the second flight. My mom and I sat in a row together and although there was Tv's, we weren't able to listen to them since the sound in our row was broken and on top of that we sat in front of a baby who loved to cry and kick my chair. Luckily the flight only lasted about 2.5 to 3 hours so it only drove me partly insane. I'm starting to miss my guitar, my dog, and all my friends already, but hopefully I'll be able to forget some of that with the fun disney world has to offer. 3/31/03 Day two started out at about 8:00 or so, so again, another early day. We hang around the hotel for the first part of the day (and get lost driving around disney) then we head over to disneyquest for "5 floors of interactive fun!" so head over to downtown disney and on the way to disneyquest we see virgin records and thank goodness, a guitar store. We have fun playing all the FREE video games in disney quest then head over to the guitar store and then virgin records (I buy a CD for $6). So ends day two. 4/1/03 Day three started out later than the other ones, and unfortunately we missed all the good breakfast spots, so we had to get these pastries (which ended up to be really good). Today is Epcot day! We visited all the countries in Epcot and I even rode the test track! It was really fun. Then we stayed up late and watched the fireworks only to come back here and go to bed late again. 4/2/03 On the fourth day of Florida my family went to see...a MGM studio...in a pear tree? Oh well, I tried. MGM wasn't all that great of a place to see, a few good rides, but over all, I was disappointed. I guess it'd be better if I liked roller coasters and stuff. So the moral of the story is, if you don't like rides, amusement parks are not for you. 4/3/03 Today we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom. It really was disappointing other than the Wildlife Safari or whatever it's called. That was pretty fun, although it was a very interesting coincidence that the poachers took the "real" elephant right as we were going past it. I also got to have a Orange Float which was really good. I'm starting to miss all my friends, especially Jana though. 4/4/03 The sixth day...my my...not much to say about it now is there? We went to Magic Kingdom, and like most of the previous days, disappointing. The most exciting thing that happened today was I ate a bag of grapes and as soon as I was done, I found a dead bug in the bag so that kind of scared me. I know that was boring, but so was my day. 4/5/03 Day seven, one week of Floridian paradise (sorta) and guess what happens? The same thing that happens every time I'm in the sun. Any guesses now? Ok, guess not so I'll tell you. I got sunburned. I was sitting outside in the burning sun, minding my own business, and this sunburn stuff just snuck up on me. The pool was pretty lame cause there was a lot of...let's say...large old guys in the pool and it kinda grossed me out. But on the upside, I got to eat at The ESPN Club. They have over 100 TVs (Including 7 in the Men's restroom). So we watched the very close contest between Marquette and Kansas. Luckily I found no bugs in my food today. Thus concludes my "Lifestyles Of The Rich and The Famous" week in Florida where my dad's work paid for some things, so my next journal entries will be "Living On The Street and What You Can Do About It." 4/6/03 Today we arrived at our new hotel only for them to tell us we couldn't check in for a few more hours. So we drove around and found a store called "Music 4 Less." I was greatly thrilled until I entered the store and saw that the cd's were about $18.99 a piece. I did find one good deal on a cd though, I found the further seems forever cd for $7.99 so I was pleased. Anyways, we go back to the hotel and after about 15 minutes of useless talking from the people at the desk, we get our keys. Next comes more talking from people at a different desk. Finally we get in our room and it's HUGE! It even comes with a cd player in each room. So I guess this week won't turn out that bad after all... 4/7/03 I spent all day today sick in my room, being boring, almost clawing at the walls wanting to get out. Then at night I was feeling better so I went out to eat with my family then we drove around for a while and bought some groceries. Fun day, huh? 4/8/03 Universal Studios day on Michael's Vacation. Another theme park didn't thrill me, but this one was pretty fun, for a theme park. We got to see the "ghostbusters" (terrible imitations) dance to all music from 'Nsync to Madonna and we almost got eaten by Jaws. Luckily all turned out well and I had a pretty good time. Thankfully, no more theme parks. On the way home though, some girls in the back of a Mustang were staring at me and I waved and they laughed. THEY LAUGHED. They were staring at me, and they laughed! I was hurt... 4/9/03 Today or not today? that is the question. Sorry, I'm having a hard time thinking of something exciting to put on here. Well today we shopped around and I finally got to go to a pawn shop which i kinda enjoyed. They had a lot of good stuff. They even had an acoustic bass but it was $600 and I couldn't quite fit it in my carry-on, so I was sad. Anyways, after that we went to a mall for obviously only rich people. It was crazy. But I did see a Hollister store there for the first time, I've heard a lot of people talking about it (mainly Jana but oh well). Then we went to Outback Steakhouse and ate there, then we came back to the hotel room and I finished reading my 550 page book (What a Loser I Am). Not a thrilling day, but not bad for my last in Florida.
