Final Fantasy Tactics Characters
Throughout the entire game, you follow a young warrioir named Ramza. Ramza is the youngest son in the Beolvue family, one known for being great knights and for fighting for the royal family. He attended a military academy at the request of his father. His best friend Delita who's sister, Teta is all that he has left since their parents died.  Delita is thought to have been killed in an explosion about a year from where the story starts off.
Now for the actual story...the king is dying and his only surviving son is a child. He had one before that was poisoned I believe. Prince Larg of the West is in a feud with Prince Goltana from the East over who should be his Guardian and assume the rights until the real Prince can assume his place on the throne.
 
You were a member of the Hokuten, the Knights who serve Prince Larg. You went on missions that involved destroying a group of bandits who turned to stealing due to a lack of jobs after the war. One of their leaders named Weigraf is almost defeated in battle after the one in which you killed his sister, Miluda and before the one where Delita's sister was murdered and where he presumably died.
That's where the first chapter ends. The second begins when you see Delita again after a battle with Goltana's troops and after he kidnapped the princess who could have the ability to rule the kingdom. You join a group to get her back, along with Gafgarion, the black knight, and Agrias, the Holy Knight.
