Final Fantasy VIII Guardian Forces
 |
Quetzacotl |
Squall's SeeD Terminal |
| Thunder Storm |
Lightning |
"Card" "Card Mod" "Mid Mag-RF" |
With his Lightning elemental attacks, Quezalcotl proves invaluable against mechanical and water ememies. His techniques are great for gaining rare cards and useful items. "Mid Mag-RF" is highly recommended early in the game. |
 |
Shiva |
Squall's SeeD Terminal |
| Diamond Dust |
Ice |
"Doom" "Elem-Atk-J" "Elem-Def-J" |
Her "Elem-Atk/Def" techniques will prove useful against elemental enemies. And she is very useful against fire-based enemies. |
 |
Ifrit |
Fire Cavern |
| Hell Fire |
Fire |
"Str-J" "Str+20/40%" "Mad Rush" "Ammo-RF" |
His techniques can make your attacks a lot stronger and his Mad Rush makes one character's stats higher but makes them uncontrollable. Use the "Ammo-RF" with Irvine once you have him. |
 |
Siren |
Draw from Elvoret |
| Silent Voice |
none |
"Treatment" "ST-Atk-J" "ST-Def-J" "Move-Find" |
When you summon her, she does a non-elemental attack that also mutes enemies. "Treatment" cures any and all status ailments. If you junction a large number of any status spell, it will freely be cast along with your attacks, and it very rarely misses. "Move-Find" reveal Save and Draw points which are usually the best place to find the best spells. |
 |
Brothers |
Tomb of the Unknown King |
| Brotherly Love |
Earth |
"Defend" "Cover" "HP+20/40/80%" "HP Bonus" |
Their attack is great on any enemy on the ground but all air-born enemies are immune to these two. "Defend" almost eliminates damage totally and "Cover" has one character take the hits for another. HP Bonus gives the cahracters Junctioned to Brothers an HP Bonus for each level up. |
 |
Diablos |
Use "Magic Lamp" from Cid, then draw and use Demi on him. Finish him with a few Guardian Forces |
| Dark Messenger |
Gravity |
"Darkside" "Mug" "enc-Half" "Enc-None" |
If ever Diablos' attacks seem to be weak, then it's because you're fighting weak enemies. "Enc-Half" and "Enc-None" can lessen the number of random encounters or get rid of them alltogether. |
 |
Carbuncle |
Draw from Iguion |
| Ruby Light |
Positive(Casts Reflect on all) |
"Vit+20/40%" "Auto-Reflect" "Counter" |
When fighting heavy magic users, Carbuncle can be quite useful, as his Ruby Light casts Reflect on all characters. "Vit+20/40%" can mean life or death for your characters, and the "Auto-Reflect" can be a nuisance becaseu even helpful magic spells are reflected off of you. |
 |
Leviathan |
Draw from NORG in Balamb Garden Basement |
| Tsunami |
Water |
"Recovery" "Auto-Potion" |
You should learn the "Recovery" Command right away because it fullly heals a character or can do 9999 to an undead enemy. |
 |
Pandemona |
Draw from Fujin in Balamb Town |
| Tornado Zone |
Wind |
"Spd-J" "Absorb" "Initiative" "Spd+20/40%" |
Absorb steal HP from an opponent and "Initiative" gives that character a pre-emptive attack. They start with a full time bar. |
 |
Cerebrus |
Galbadia Garden at end of disc two |
| Smokey Wolfe |
Positive(Casts Double on all or Triple on one |
"Auto-Haste" "ST-Def-Jx4" "Expendx2-1" |
You can fight Cerebrus towards the end of Disc two but I'm not sure when you actually get it. I would suggest using it right away though in any difficult battles, especially boss fights. "Expendx2-1" allows you to cast a spell twice for the cost of one. |
 |
Alexander |
Draw from Edea at end of Disc 2 |
| Holy Judgement |
Holy |
"Revive" "Elem-Defx4" "High Mag-RF" |
The "Revive" command works axactly as a Phoenix Down. "Med Data" makes item usage twice as strong. "Elem-Defx4" makes a character totally protected from Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Water. Awesome! |
 |
Cactuar |
Defeat Jumbo Cactuar on Cactuar Island |
| 1,000 Needles |
None |
"Eva-J" "Luck-J" "Luck+50%" |
OK, take the ten-digit in his level, multiply it times 1000 and you have the damage he does. EX- if on Lvl 32, he would do 3000 damage. He is the only GF that can raise you luck and/or evade stats. |
 |
Doomtrain |
Combine Soloman's Ring, 6 Remedies, 6 steel pipes, and 6 Malboro Tentacles |
| Runawat Train |
All Status Ailments |
"Auto-Shell" ST/Elem-Atk/Def Junctions |
Using Doomtrain will give your foes all status ailments. His Junctions are extremely valuable and his "Auto-Shell" guards you from magical attacks. |
 |
Tonberry |
Defeat 20 Tonberries and Tonberry King at Centra Ruins |
| Chef's Knife |
None |
"LV Down" "Haggle" "Familiar" "Sell-High" |
"LV Up" makes battles more difficult and gives you more EXP and "LV Down" does the opposite. "Sell-High" lets you sell used stuff for more. "Haggle" lets you buy new stuff for less. And "Familiar" makes shops have more items to choose from than they normally would have. |
 |
Bahamut |
Defeat Bahamut at Deep Sea Research Center |
| Mega Flare |
none |
"Abilityx4" "Str+60%" "mag+60%" "Rare Item" Auto-Protect" |
Bahamut is useful against pretty much all foes because his attack is non-elemental and heavy. |
 |
Eden |
Draw from Ultima Weapon at the Deep Sea Research Center |
| Eternal Breath |
none |
"Devour" "Expendx3-1" "GFAbl Med-RF" |
Eden causes about 40,000 HP in damage. "Devour" allthough it rarely works, will kill any enemy instantly. "Expendx3-1" lets a character cast a spell three times for the cost of one time. And "GFAbl Med-RF" let's you create items that teach your GF's useful skills. |
|
Odin |
Defeat Odin at Centra Ruins |
| Zantetsuken |
Other(Instant Death) |
| "Zantetsuken" |
He is nothing like your other Guardian Forces. Instead, he randomly appears before battles and automatically gives you a victory. The frequency is based on your characters' luck stats though. |
|
Gilgamesh |
Have Odin, then defeat Seifer at end of Disc 3 |
Zantetsuken Masamune Excalibur Excalipur |
Differs |
| all but "Excalipur" |
"Zantetsuken" is the same as it was for Odin. "Masamune" and "Excalibur" both hit all enemies for good damage. And "Excalipur" is a fake move that does extremely weak damage to all enemies. |
