| Chapter 3 �Dan you should see her house...� Ashley said before I interrupted him. �I know she told me that that Mark guy had friends over and they didn�t clean up.� I said �No man, it is more then that. It is really bad, it has really raggy carpet, the walls are all peeling, there isn�t even a kitchen, just a little flat stove thing. Her bed is just one blanket on a mattress on the floor.� He said �She can�t bring her baby home to that. What am I going to do, I can't let her go back there. I know her much but I really want to help her out. How about while we are on break, for Jacob, I can stay up here and try to help her find a apartment, that her and the baby both can stay in.� I said seeing that as my only option at the moment. �Where is she going to stay until then?� Ashley said. �In my hotel room. It is like a mini apartment, it has a spare room and a kitchen off of the living room. I'll sleep in the spare room and her and the baby can have the master room. What else can I do?� I asked. �Yea, that will work. We'll figure something else out. I feel the same way you do.� Ashley said. �Not likely." I said under my breath "Lets go back in,� I said as I opened the door a crack �are you descent?� I asked. �Yea.� She replied with a laugh. I opened the door and we both walked in. �Guess what?� I said sitting down at the chair beside her bed. �What?� She asked �We are gonna stay with you, you don�t mind do you?� I asked. I figured I would tell her about me helping her and my plan later. �No, I don�t mind, that is very sweet of you. It is going to get pretty nasty, though. Can you handle it?� She asked daring me with her eyes. �Can I handle it? CAN I HANDLE IT?� I said puffing out my chest. �Of course I can, plus I was with my aunt when she had her last baby about a year ago.� I said as she started laughing. Then the baby�s heart monitor started to beep really loudly, and 4 or 5 nurses ran into the room checking everything and pushing me and Ashley to the side. When that happened, it scared us all. It went back to normal which was a good sign. �What happened is it alright?� Desiree asked. I am guessing that she didn't know the sex of the baby �It looks to be doing alright, I�d say your baby just had it�s first nightmare. It just got scared. We are going to get you into the delivery room in about 5 minutes. This baby is coming fast. Are they both going in with you?� She asked pointing at Ashley and Dan. I looked at them one last time, they both gave me thumbs up so I said yes. 30 minutes later (Desiree�s POV) �Ok give me one final push, and this will all be over.� The doctor said. I looked at Ashley and Dan, grabbed there hands and pushed as hard as I could. Then I heard a cry. My baby cried. I started crying as Dan kissed me on the forehead. �Congratulations you have a healthy baby girl!� He said as he wrapped her up and handed her to me. She was so beautiful. �You wanna hold her?� I asked Dan. He looked a little suprised but carefully picked her up. Ashley was on my left, still holding my hand and pushing my hair out of my face. I looked up to him and he gave me a hug. �Thanks so much!� I said. One of the nurses took the baby to get her cleaned and dressed. They said that she was healthy enough to stay in the room with me, until I left. I was so tired I fell asleep right after I got back to my room. When I finally woke up, I was still tired. I saw Dan standing by the window with my baby in his arms. I needed to think of a name. �Ashley Danielle� I said not meaning to say it out loud. Dan turned around and smiled. �What was that?� He asked �I have a name for her. Ashley Danielle. I figured she should be named after the two guys who helped bring her into this world.� I said as I started to drift in and out of sleep. I woke back up around 4 in the morning. A little less tired this time. Dan was sitting in the chair right next to my bed with Ashley still in his arms. I carefully got out of bed and picked her up out of his arms. He stired and woke up. �I�m just putting her in her bed.� I said as I placed her into her little crib on wheels, it looked like. �What time is it?� He asked trying to hold his eyes open. �About 4 in the morning. Why don�t you get up in my bed and go to sleep. I think I am going to take Ashley for a walk." I said as I gave him a look that dared him to object. So he got up into my bed and was asleep probably before his head hit the pillow. I wheeled the cart out of the room that was holding Ashley and just walked aound. Life was looking better. I got rid of a jerk and got two great guys and a beautiful baby girl. My life was meant for something. I now knew my purpose for living. |
