Life's Words

Pages filled with stains from sin
Show to all my life within
Before the Savior took me in...
Father, send your love to me.

Blotted sorrows, darkened sight,
Not understanding wrong from right,
To selfish desires clinging tight...
Jesus, write your love in me.

Without a shepherd, without a guide,
Following paths I tried to hide,
Fearing death down deep inside...
Spirit, show your love in me.

And then, anew, I sprang reborn
Just as my Lord did on that morn;
From sin's and death's grasp was I torn!
O God, so much I praise Thee!

Life's black-stained pages now are clean,
Washed pure as snow by power unseen
By the blood of Christ who comes between...
O Christ, I long to see Thee!

Lord, write Your Word within my soul.
From edge to edge, please fill the whole
That all my being You control...
Oh Holy Spirit, guide me.

And may I share with others lost
That none may have to bear the cost
When Judgment Day is finally crossed...
For battle, Father, arm me.

Then send me out into the night
To bring the Savior's holy light
To those in sin who've lost their sight...
For courage, Jesus, hold me.

Now from my lips may God's Truth pour
While heart and soul with praises soar.
My Lord's return I'm looking for...
For comfort, Spirit, fill me.
