Time For God
I glanced upon the clock on the wall.
Fearsome time looked back at me.
It showed my day with every hour,
Minutes and seconds of what could be.
The Word was calling on my mind,
Its promises waiting for me to hold.
I found a place to be with God
Before the day began to unfold.
Through Bible pages I galloped on,
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
But, then I stopped - alive in my tracks,
And began to feel something was wrong.
The words before me were going in -
Of that there was no doubt,
But were they sticking - did they stay,
Or, were they heading out?
For me to go through this day I knew,
A single promise well rehearsed,
Would have more use within my mind
Than a race from verse to verse.
