Return To Eden

In the Garden of Eden my Savior and I walk,
now and then pausing for a little talk.
I tell Him again how great it is
to be back in His presence after all the years
of ceaseless wanderings Adam and I did . . .
and of the fears and tears.

I pause at the rose and my Savior speaks;
He shows me the thorns and the perfect flower.
He reminds me of the pains I'd suffered for years.
"These," He said, "are the thorns that caused your tears
as you walked through the labyrinth.
They are what brought you to this hour."

Then I begin to understand---my Savior
had not forsaken me---He'd been with me
through lonely days and darkened ways
to teach me my great need of His Truth to see.
He had placed a divider between my world and His,
between the offspring of Adam and me;
in hardship and suffering I had lived.
Salvation was promised - He heard my plea.

Through the son, Seth, that I was given
came another that found the Father's will.
This One paid the price for me
when He died on Calvary's hill.
Daily now I walk with Him
among the trees and flowers;
by the river we commune
throughout the joyful hours.

Dawn

I watched the dawn awaken
As she crept up in golden mist.
What if I'd missed this glimpse
Of a new day in our midst?

Common things are beautiful
This special time of day.
Flowers stand with heads held high
To see who passes by their way.

The dawning rays of gold
Entice the birds to sing--
Their throats swell out in music
Making the woodlands ring.

A brilliant newborn dawn
Her own poetry writes.
The poet just records the words
The awakening dawn excites.

A Smile

We have a treasure on our face
Worth much more than gold.
It can be tapped by giving;
It's not meant to be sold.

It is the tiny muscles
That help us light up smiles.
Seek your treasure early;
Pass it out in piles!
