Thom the World Poet
Thom the World Poet is an improvising performance poet who works with musicians around the world. A member of Wordjazz Ensemble and Poetry Karaoke Orchestra, Thom founded the Ausin International Poetry Festival. Thom's prolific works include 153 books of poetry, 23 CD's, and 35 cassettes of improvised poetry. He has supported Bob Dylan, Russel Crowe, Roy Harpur, and Hawkwind; toured with Gong, Mother Gong, and Kangaroo Moon, and remains a poet of this moment, and he will improvise lives daily via email poems. Thom's numerous Performances (Festival appearences) and Workships--too many to mention--include the Austin International Poetry Festival (1993-2007), Strawberry Fair (1994), the Cheltenham Literature Festival (1995-2007), the London Jazz Festival (1995), Glastonbury Festival (1996), the Sydney International Poetry Festival (1996), Huddersfield Poetry Festival (1996), Iola's Children in Wales (1997), Strangedaze (Ohio) Festival (1997-9), Queensland Poetry Festival (1998), Mandalay Arts (Dallas) Festival (2002), Sheffield "Off the Shelf" (2002-2004), the Bristol Poetry Festival (2004-2005), Yorkshire Arts Circus (2995-2007), Barnsley Writers (1999-2007), Austin Independant School Disstrict (2002-2004), Shreiner College (Kerrville--clips on youtube.com, 2007), Austin Library Poetry Workships (2000-2007), and The YRC (Monterey) Conference (2007).
