| N-Large by Prolab | ||||
| This is one of the first weight-gainers I ever used and I still use it. I enjoy the taste (chocolate), the price is very economical around $1.33 per serving (www.bulknutrition.com) and it has the necessary calories, protein and carbohydrates a good weight-gainer should have. I will rate N-Large in four categories. Taste, price per serving, ingredients and effectiveness of product out of ten with one being the lowest and ten being the highest. Taste: 8 The only flavor I have used is chocolate but I enjoy the chocolate flavor. Naturally it is thicker when you mix it with milk but it also tastes very good when mixed with water. The only problem is that N-Large tends to clump when you use a shaker bottle. If you use a blender it blends great. When you use a shaker bottle make sure you have enough liquid and that you shake the bottle enough to where it gets most of it mixed. 7-10 shakes of the bottle will not get it done. Price: 8 The price at $1.33 per serving is pretty good, Anything under $1.50 is a good price for a weight gainer. I wish they would knock the price down between $30-33 because then it would be a great deal. Ingredients: 7 600 calories, 52g protien and 78g carbohydrates per serving mixed with water is a good mix for anyone who is looking to gain weight. N-Large also comes with an assortment of aminos. Other brands such as Cytogainer by Cytosport has added other ingredients such as creatine, arginine and other vitamins to their product. That is where I fill N-Large is lacking. Effectiveness: 8 N-Large is a solid weight gainer. If you are looking to add mass then take 1-2 full servings a day. It will work if you eat at least 4 other meals a day. You can also use N-Large as an effective post-workout drink. I use a half a serving and mix in a scoop of whey protein. Supplement information can be found here. |
