-History of Titanium-
Titanium was first discoverd in 1791 by William Gragor, a clergyman
and amateur chemist in Cornwall England.  He discoverd titanium in a
stream located near his home by collecting a black residue from the
bottom and burning off the copper with hydrochloric acid.
A few years later a German chemist, M.H. Klaproth named the new metal after the Titans, the giants of Greed Mythology.
In 1910, the first pure metallic titanium was produced by Hunter.  He heated titanium chloride together with metallic sodium.  Because this
process was very dangerous the expirement was done in an airtight steel cylender.
Hunter performed this expirement to replace carbon filaments then
used in light bulbs.  He was unable to use it in light bulbs because the
melting points was too high but Hunter commercialized his method for
processing and is now known as the Hunter Process.
Titanium is a very abundant metal and is mostly found in Ignious
rocks. However, it is very difficult to produce titanium in its purest form.
