| Pros and Cons |
| Pros: -Excellent corrosion resistance: Titanium frames will not rust like steel and will not crack or dent like carbon fibre or aluminum. -High strength to weight ratio: For its weight it is the strongest frame made today. -Superior weld strength: Because of its high melting point it can stand very high temperature and can be cold forged for superior strength unlike aluminum and steel. -Stiffness and control over varied terrain: Because of its weight titanium bikes are some of the best for climbing. Because titanium is very ridged it does very well on tight single track downhills. Cons: -Price: Titanium frames start at about $800 and can cost as much as $1600. -Downhill Prowess: Titanium frames cannot control large amounts of suspension travel, particularly in the rear. And its light weight prooves useless to downhill racers. -Frame types: On the market today titanium frames only come in hard tails and rigded soft tales. |
