| The dorsum on a penguin runs from the top of its head to the tip of its tail. In the Blue Penguin, the dorsum is blue and may have tones of black. It tends to be more blue when the penguin is young; however, male, female, and fledgeling Blue Penguins are fairly indistiguishable from each other except that the male penguin is slightly bigger than the female and has a slightly larger bill (Blue Penguin).
