TAKE
THAT YOU PIECE OF M**T!
If
you’re curious what m**t meant here its simply “meat”. Why? It’s one of their
curious customs when you try buying meat and poultry at their local wet
market. Of course, being a
foreigner gives you that wonderful ability to screw up their customs somewhere
without you knowing it. In the Philippines, when you buy meat, you traditionally
touch it to test its texture and smell it to test its freshness. The meat seller wont mind you doing that
because they expect it. Do it right here and the Vietnamese seller would expect
more from you. If you do that (the touch and smell the meat thing), that means
it’s a sure buy. They expect you to buy that particular meat. Because if you don’t, they’ll do a
perfect imitation of a World Series baseball pitcher and throw that meat right
at you. They don’t care if its spoiled, being flopped at you then to the muddy
floor, because to them its spoiled anyway because you touched and smelled it. So
take my advice, if you can’t judge a piece of meat by just looking at it, then
you’re better off buying the packaged, fresh frozen versions at the local
supermarket.
