Small 3 inch high wooden dolls that represent Vietnamese maidens in their traditional dress called Ao Dai [pronounced as Aw-Zai]. They come in dozens of cute colors. I bought a lot of these adorable souvenir denizens. |

Saigon Street Market. Here various kinds of fresh produce are sold which includes fruits, vegetables, fish and meat. Haggling is common, almost a requirement, whenever you buy anything. A word of warning though: If they find out you're a foreigner, they increase their prices, sometimes 100% over. So i do suggest you bring a Vietnamese friend along to help you with the haggling. |

Fruit season fare include lychees and rambutans. These fruits are everywhere and very air itself is permeated with their sweet aroma. Flowers too are being sold by the bundle at low prices. Buying flowery troves for you love ones are no problem here. |

Pick your choice of fresh chicken. Just choose the chicken you like and the ladies behind the cage will slaughter and prepare them in front of you. At least they guarantee freshness. |

Fresh seafood are also available, ranging from clams to snakeheads. Snakeheads are large freshwater fish similar to catfish. Their meat is tasty but very bony. |

Art classes were held for the Deaf-Mute in Saigon's Fine Arts Museum. The students were drawing human figures using statues as references. They were being taught by one of Saigon's premier National Artists. |

They say that Asia is the only continent where snakes are afraid of Men. I bet that what went on in this poor guy's mind whose thoughts are all but bottled up. Snakes are pickled in rice wine along with ginseng to produce one of the country's popular health tonic drink. |
