Ho Chi Mihn Series 01
The famous hammer and sickle The familiar two-wheeler
This image was the first thing that greeted me when I arrived at Saigon airport: the familiar sickle and hammer symbol of Communism.  But instead of the oppression I was led to believe, Saigon boasts a lot more socially and economically than what i first imagined. Th most common mode of transportation in Vietnam.  They come in droves, weaving in and out of traffic like Hollywood stuntmen.
Entrance to the Temple Club
Ship docked at Saigon Port
Taste genuine Vietnamese dishes at the Temple Club boasts fine dining with reasonable prices.  An average meal would cost around 50,000vnd [about P170].
The Saigon River is the main marine thoroughfare for ships transporting import/export goods.  The river is deep enough to accomodate ships the size of destroyers or tankers.
Chinese Royalty Tapestry
Dark, candle-lit entrance.
Vietnam also reflects its chinese heritage with a wall tapestry depicting royalty.
Market woman delivering their wares
The Temple Club's entrance begins with a long tunnel which ends with a flight of stairs.  Frankly, it reminded me of an Opium Den. ^_^
Xich Lo tricycle
A very common sight in Vietnam, women take their goods to the market.
A product of Vietnamese innovation after the war, the Xich Lo is in itself a strange kind of tricycle where the passenger gets to have the front seat to everything.
