Profile: Toji is a classmate of the EVA pilots, and is also a friend of Kensuke Aida and Shinji Ikari. His sister is injured in the angel attack by Sachiel, the Angel that attacks Tokyo-3 in the first episode. Ever since then, he has visited her in the hospital. Both of his parents work in the research facility of NERV. He has a very hot-blooded personality, and at first does not get along with Shinji Ikari, because he was piloting the EVA Unit that fought Sachiel's attack. Eventually, however, he warms up to Shinji and is able to give Shinji some measure of companionship in the series.
