Profile: Ritsuko Akagi is the Head Researcher for NERV, and one of Kaji and Misato's closest friends. She is responsible for the maintenance of the MAGI computer system that is currently in use by NERV and other organizations around the world. The MAGI system is composed of three supercomputers programmed with different ways of thinking, and her mother's personality, divided into that of a woman, a mother, and a scientist, is the one that is programmed into the MAGI machines. She is also responsible for the maintenance and continuing research into the EVA project and marks its progress with regards to its pilots. Ritsuko's relationship with Kaji and Misato goes all the way back to when they all went to college at Tokyo-2. Ritsuko also harbors a slight dislike towards Rei.
