| The 2003 Malta Song for Europe will not only be remembered for the many new things introduced to the festival but also for having a winner which is relatively new in Malta's music scene. Lynn Chircop, aged 22, has won Malta's song for Europe with her song called 'To Dream Again', composed by Alfred Zammit to the pen of Cynthia Sammut. 'To Dream Again' managed to earn 150 points. Close by came one of the 2003 favourites Lawrence Gray with his song called 'Why Not?' which was written and composed by Ray Agius. Lawrence Gray managed to win second place by earning 147 points... 3 points less than the winning song. Third place was won by Gunther Chetcuti with the song 'Light Of My Life' composed by Paul Abela and Roger Tirazona whilst having the lyrics written by Doris Checuti. This song earned 125 points. This year's votes where made up of a 50% televote and a 50% international jury. Another new introduction to this year's festival was that the festival was this year hosted at 'The Venue' in Ta' Qali, a tent built purposely for the festival itself. The shift from MCC was mainly made in order to increase the number of seats available, which increased to 4,000 from the 1,500 seats the MCC had The general feeling is that this move was a great idea and most probably next year's MSFE will also be held in something similair to this year's venue.
