Italian Ultimate Basic
(Living Language Series)

Some of the top language schools in the country have hailed this book as one of the best language instruction books around (Georgetown was one of them).  I love this book.  I have learned so much and the book has a helpful appendix of grammatical irregularities and verb tables. I highly recommend this book.

Teach yourself Italian
This is an excellent introductory book to la lingua italiana.  If you would like to learn enough Italian to be comfortable in a simple conversation or "advanced travel language", this is a great book.  It does leave out some key grammatical ideas, but for the price tag, you can't complain.
