Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Tim and Shannon Phillis! We love you and hope nothing but the
best for you both! It was a beautiful wedding and smashing reception! Thank you for letting us all
be a part of your special day! We love you!
Starting off with a bang, there is a small party held at a small local pub called, "The Little Angel Pub", right
on the River Thames. However, we outgrew the place and the bartenders wanted to party themselves, so we moved along
down the road to another small bar called, Magoos...we did that a few times to be honest, but this is Thursday night,
just two days before "The Big Day" and just about everyone has finally made their way to Henley-On-Thames.
The next day, most of the guys went to bond by playing golf. So the ladies, and the other guys that would rather
relax than swing a putter, went on a boat ride down the Thames from nearby Reading (pronounced Redding for you Yanks)
back to Henley-On-Thames. Beautiful as it was, the wind was a bit crisp and all were thankful when the bar opened and
the pores became numb. Afterwards, everyone returned to The Catherine Wheel for lunch, most people's "home" during this
adventure.
Now it is the big day, Saturday, 12 August 2006, and Tim and Shannon are here are St. Mary's Church, Wargrave to marry
amid a sea of family and friends and love.... History says that the church was originally built in the 17th century. It
burned down in 1914 but the red tower survived and was incorporated into the new rebuilt church. Strange to think how many
people have been married on these grounds....
The Reception was very lovely and beautifully set up. The party was held at Tim's family home where his
parents, Sir Robert and Lady Jean Phillis still reside today. It was once The Old Vicarage to neighboring
St. Mary's Church where the wedding was held, and the "Home Makeover" began when Bob and Jean purchased it over
20 years ago. With a marquis set up complete with a dance floor and open bar, everyone was ready for a great
time!
And now that the sun has set, "The Freaks Come Out At Night!" and all the real partying begins....
And no one can forget the princess that stole the show, Miss Zoe Phillis, daughter of the eldest Phillis son,
Martin, and his wife Julie
