During my elective in Boston, I
spent a weekend on a visit to New York. To my good luck my cousin Vicky and her friend Nicky were kind enough to agree to come with me and drive me all the way to the Big Apple. The journey lasted for 4 hours and for most of the time the only thing one saw from the car window was thick New England forrest.
One of the road trip's landmarks was Rhode Island's State House which is made to look like the Capitol Hill. In order to travel from Boston to New York one has to cross four US States: Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York State.
The approach to New York City was very spectacular due to the majestic skyline of the metropolis. The enormous number of skyscrapers at times seems to be surreal.
Looking through the head window I saw for the first time the Empire State Building.
After a drive around town we ended up parking near Radio City at Lower Manhattan.
The Rockefeller Centre was one of the first attractions I visited in New York..
St. Patrick's Catholic Church is huge but it is dwarved by the surrounding skyscrapers.
My fellow travellers (being female) were very keen on some window-shopping at
5th Avenue's exclusive stores.
I personally, preferred to wander around Central Park.
An oasis of green surrounded by a jungle of concrete.
Most of our time we spent at Astoria in Queens where most of the Greek community is focused. Apart from eating great Greek food, I was astonished by the "Greek" graffiti on the walls.
Can you see the
Chrysler Tower?
