high school student in Tokyo, researched a report on the brain, she
did notbrother to slog to the library and cull textbooks. She plugged
"cerebrum" and "medulla" into Google " I have
been able to access stuff which I would have never encounterif not the
Internet" she says.
After seeing how much "dead time"
her daughter, Heather endured in a Dever public school, Nancy Romberg
enrolled her in one of about a dozen "virtual high school"
that have opened in the past five years. Heather, now 20, began working
from home via computer, choosing when she did what. Romberg thinks her
daughter got more attention interacting with instructors online.
