Greek mountain tea:
Although it
is known for centuries as a decoction, was never in fashion, not entered in
English lounges and not served as a treat, or accompanied with cakes or
biscuits as the classic tea. The preferred grandmothers and our grandfathers
not as pleasure beverage but as a medicine, as they felt the soothing
properties that had been in their organization. In recent years however this
proved scientifically, and ushered in laboratories and is studied by
scientists.
For the
record
The
"mountain tea" comes from the plant Sideritis
spp or otherwise siderite Dioscorides,
which is said to have got its name from the Greek word "iron" thanks
to the healing properties of the plant against wounds caused by iron weapons.
