The Berkana myth is the reason Tinguans Or Teanguans have 3 names.
The myth goes like this
Tekoa and Moniqw were S'kigha (equivalent to Immortals)
Tekoa was Sunse and Moniqw was Moonsi.
Being of different lineages, they're children were born with special gifts.
they had 10 children.
Berkana- Had control over destiny
Brigo- Had control over metal
Bhineis- Had control over water
Tamaha- Had control over Wood
Dominduan- Had control over fire
Reyl- Had control over Earth
Liha- Had control over the wind
Jocenech- Had control of the wild spirits
Iroyl- Had control of the neverending void
Nata- Had control over Heart
Berkana was the first born daughter, upon her birth S'tragh (Evil spirits that steal newborns)
Knew she controled both Human & likewise their destinies.
In fear, they stole Berkana away and killed her.
Believing they had stopped their destinies from being controlled.
Berkana's spirit went to mothers with unborn children and told them
a secret in their dreams.
****Tragh can only take that which is unclaimed****
(Meaning the baby didn't have a Benama (secret Name given to a baby before birth)
This prevented the Tragh from stealing newborns.
Berkana is also believed to heal sickly children
and newborns.
