What's New (and What's Not) |
Started construction January 2004 |
1. Built Benchwork |
2. Layed Cork |
3. Layed Track (Superelevated Curves) |
4. Wired Track |
5. Built and wired Control Panels (accomodate 7 throttles) |
6. Verified Operation (another name for played with trains) Very useful. Found areas for changes/improvements. Changed some track and rewired some control panels. |
7. Changed turnout/crossing at Nescopeck (see # 6). |
8. Added Branch to Plymouth and verified operation |
9. Inserted and painted Sleepers (worst job so far with very little noticable results) |
10. Started scenery, assembled and placed some buildings. |
11. Began Ballast and scenery (in Plymouth) |
12. Rearranged Power Plant/ Northumberland in/out track for better operation (see # 6) |
13. Added Throttle for Northumberland Yard (mostly for Power Plant in/out) (see # 6) |
14. Added crossover to eastbound main from Buttonwood yard (see # 6). |
15. Added a crossover at Nescopeck for the local to return to Buttonwood (see good old #6) |
16. Rearranged Mine Track Warning Do not use sheet cork. I did. When I ballasted it, it curled and developed about 1 inch waves with the track skimming the surface. I also used it in Northumberland Yard. I'm going to do something before ballasting. I'm going to have to tear out the mine track and cork and redo. (See picture below). |
17. Changed Operation at Buttonwood. No longer needed to add trackage |
18. Developed Operational Scheme without paperwork. No forms to fill out. |
19. Finally cut access hole in Hudson (Wilkes Barre Staging Yard) to reach turnouts at rear. Wow am I glad that's done! Should have done it before track. |
20. Began Phase 1 of Scenery. Stopped at Buttonwood yard. Phase 1 is dirt, grass, trees, roads, and buildings. Very Little detail (people, poles, few automobiles, etc.) |
21. Develop "Index Card Cheat Sheets" for guest engineers. |
Note: # 6 while being fun was also very helpful in fine tuning the layout. I 'm not willing to leave this stage of construction 'til I am satisfied with the operation. |
