A few years back, I parted out a truck that had a fabulous wood bed with side tanks and these were transfered onto my truck.  Off came the old bed, the frame pressure washed and under-coated.  E-brake and brake lines cleaned, inspected and replaced where needed.   A year after the replacement bed was installed I managed to sandwich her between a couple of big fir trees and now the bed matches the rest of the body.  Dent removal is at the end of my list so I can at least feel assured that someone won't steal my C-10 in the meanwhile.

Other modifications, because I tow a great deal, were Disc Brakes from a 1970 C-10, a Custom Radiator and a transmission cooler.  I have yet to convert the front rotors to six lug and continue to pack two spares with me.  About 3 years ago the truck gained a new duel exhaust system with cross-over plus the charging system was upgraded to a more modern  internally regulated alternator.

Obviously, my purist inclinations took a back seat to aesthetics, convenience and safety.

After running the numbers on the replacement motor's cylinder heads, Joe and I have decided to upgrade the pistons to forged flat tops and rebuild with the best quality components my budget will allow.  Besides the pistons, the only other deviations from stock will be modern valve train components, a mild RV cam (268HE) and a quality  HEI.
