The Wall


Year after year
I have built a wall around my heart
Brick by brick
I have set myself a part

I didn't want to hurt,
I was scared to feel
So I built this wall 
Within which I was sealed

One day you came along,
A gift from God above
You found a hidden gate
And entered with your love

I never thought that 
I would leave this wall
but through you
I am letting it fall

Not a sudden thing
that happens in a day
but a long winding road
with stops along the way

I pray that you
Will walk with me
And help me 
Keep my feet

For the goal is special
And means the world to me
It is a gathering for life
Of you, the Father and me.
