ETMSDR's Policies

ETMSDR is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of Malteses and other toy breeds (purebred and mixed) who are either in shelters, found as strays, or owner turn ins. We are committed in finding the best possible home for each of our rescues. Out-of-state adoption is possible. The new owner is required to help with the transportation. 

Policy  
  1. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed without a thorough background and reference check; to include personal and vet references. An adoption fee is requested.
  2. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed without a completed Home Visit.
  3. No ETMSDR dog shall be Euthanized without Veterinary recommendation.
  4. Every ETMSDR dog shall receive Vaccinations to include Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordatella. Fecal Exam will be preformed, worming if necessary, and they will be screened for HW. Every Rescue will receive HW preventative while in rescue.
  5. Every ETMSDR dog shall be neutered as soon as health permits, and PRIOR to adoption.
  6. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed without fostering and thorough temperament evaluation.
  7. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed with a history of biting.
  8. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed until all known medical issues have been addressed.
  9. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed without FULL DISCLOSURE of health and behavior.
  10. No ETMSDR dog shall be placed without a contract.
  11. Should it be necessary-- ETMSDR will take back any rescued dog it has placed.
Foster Care Policy
Foster homes are always needed. A foster parent helps these scared abandoned dogs adjust to a new life and become ready for their new forever homes. Foster parents will be responsible for funding their own fostering. It is understood ETMSDR receives no funding. ETMSDR will make every effort to pay for vetting for those animals fostered for us, but any assistance will be appreciated. If  ETMSDR’s foster care homes incur expenses for additional vetting; they will be reimbursed upon receipt of the adoption fee (up to the amount of fee).
