Bio No other rock outfit can match the intensity of Philadelphia's Dog and Pony (henceforth referred to as THE ARTIST). Past and present members include: -Brett Acker (Swisher, Mambo Movers) -Mike Sabolick (Wellington, Paul Green Schoool of Rock) -Chris McGroarty (Indre Studios) -Dan Welch (Wellington, Mambo Movers) -Dave Birch (Sugar Skulls) -Jimi Barberossa (Zeitmahl, Brick Window) As described by Ron, owner of Ron's Ribs, 1627 South Street: "You guys are good. Real good. This neighborhood is bumpin' when yall practing. Who's the owner of this band?" The magnitude THE ARTIST's live energy and song-writing, and sheer virtuosity have not been seen in Philadelphia since the likes of Ruin, The Hooters, or Tommy Conwell and his Young Rumblers. THE ARTIST is more than the sum of its parts, musically. A decision to combine musical influences, without diluting the purity or intensity of each influence, has left the band with a unique combination of dance, noise, blues and punk rock. Perhaps to only true Phila band, THE ARTIST embodies the spirit of their born-to-lose hometown (Rocky, our sports teams) by choosing a self-deprecating name, writing lyrics with no current commercial value, and by fighting the good fight to the bitter end. *Disclaimer* 1. THE ARTIST does not wear make-up. Make-up is for women. 2. THE ARTIST cannot be held responsible for any emotional, psychological, or hearing damage; all of which may result from attending one of THE ARTIST's performances.
