| Present Day Prophecies We are in a period of time that prophecies are being fulfilled at rate far more than any ever before. A very good clue of that is found in the book of Daniel, Chapter 12, verse 4. It says, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." In today's world, we can see the evidence of running to and fro. A business man can eat breakfast at home, and travel by plane to several places in the country, and still be home for supper at night. It seems we have no time to visit anymore. What happened to the days that families got together on Sunday afternoons and just visited one another? What happened to once a year family reunions? Some people may still do this, but it's a small group now, instead of the majority of the population doing these things. And when he says, "knowledge shall be increased," just look at today's technology. A hundred years ago, electricity wasn't commonplace, nor the vehicle, nor air travel, nor the telephone. Today we have a phone for every place we are, in our cars, pockets, or houses. I don't think He was just talking about technology, either, I believe He was talking about knowledge of the Bible. Revelation is one of the most mis-understood books of the Bible, mainly because people couldn't understand the symbols that John gave. John had to talk in a way that he understood. He couldn't understand the visions that were given to him, so he explained it the best way he could. Now we can see the evidence of what he was talking about. Jesus gave us a parable to recognize the signs of the times. In Luke Chapter 21, Verse 29 it says: And he spake to them a parable; "Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30: When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your ownselves that summer is nigh at hand. 31: So likewise, ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled." Israel represents the fig tree. The first major prophecy of our time was that of the restoration of Israel to their native land on May 14, 1948. Jesus tells us that this generation will see all things fulfilled. In Obadiah Chapter 1, Verse 4, another significant prophecy has been fulfilled by the United States of America. It says: "Thou thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest amoung the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord." Neil Armstrong fulfilled that very prophecy by landing on the moon and exclaiming that the eagle had landed. I wonder if he recognized the significance of what he said? More modern day prophecies would be found in Matthew, Chapter 24, beginning with vs 3 through the end of the chapter. Here's a list of what Jesus says: 1. Many shall come in my name saying, I am the Christ. (examples would be the Waco incident, and the incident in Gyana.) 2. Wars and rumors of wars. (Is that not commonplace?) 3. Famines (Ethiopia and other third world countries) 4. Pesilences (Utah crickets, AIDS) 5. Earthquakes in various places (all over the world) 6. Iniquity shall abound, and the love of many shall wax cold. (What about parents killing kids, kids killing parents, etc.?) It's easy to see that the "birth pangs" have began, counting down to the final hour. |
