Paul Fedorowicz
Accordion Performer and Teacher

Accordionist Paul Fedorowicz originally wanted to play the drums. However, at the tender age of nine, his Ukrainian parents forced him to take accordion lessons from Joe Cerrito, a Sicilian. Initially highly resistant, Paul eventually came to love the lessons, including accordion competitions and band performances.

During his twenties, Paul learned some folk, classical, and jazz guitar and in 1989, as he turned thirty, he finally bought that longed-for drumset. After playing jazz drums with The Off Beat Quartet from 1991-1995, Paul rededicated his full musical attention to his first instrument, the accordion. In 1996 he formed The Ethnic Underground, an international folk music ensemble and also played 'Bistro Pop' with Isola Bella for three years. Paul has furthered his own musical studies with local jazz-accordionist, Ken Olendorf.

Paul's accordion style originally focused on popular 'standards', classical, and jazz music. In recent years, he has explored various ethnic genres including Klezmer, Tango, Italian Mazurkas and Tarantellas, Latin Bossas, Ukrainian, Russian, Gypsy, and other European folk music.

Paul has an impressive repertoire of original compositions that pay homage to Astor Piazzola's New Tango, Latin Bossa Nova, swing jazz, and myriad ethnic influences.

Paul is available for individual instruction to both the beginner (adult or child) and those with prior musical background. Paul also provides group/band instruction.

Paul is also available for solo or ensemble performance at weddings, clubs, cafes, taverns, parties, receptions, 'openings', and festivals.

When not playing music, Paul is a Jungian psychotherapist, yoga teacher, and creativity coach.

Teaching Rates:
$35/'hour' individual instruction $15/hour group/band instruction/person
