Shadow Haven

Dangerous Dream
by April Diaz

***This song is to the tune of Close Every door which is composed by my favorite composer of musicals, Andrew Llyod Webber, from the show "Joseph and the Technicoloured Dreamcoat". The tune may belong to him but the lyrics belong to me. Of my own mind I have wrtten this piece and have sung it at a music festival at my school. I hope you like it. ***

How can these hurt me so?
How can this be?
How can these blades
Gash me to
Be incomplete?

Torture this mind, with
Hate and regret, oh
Show me no mercy
To this feeble me!

No crimson wounds here
No crimson wounds, but how
Can knives of a nightmare
Shed tears of the soul?

Tell me O slumber
How can this dream be?
I am so fragile
Why does this haunt me?

No fingers on flesh, You
Can't touch this, lest you
Find form out of my
Dangerous dream…

Fragmented peaks of,
A dangerous show
Warped and played memories
To never let go

Fitted to thunder
Of what beats in breast
Bitter tears for what
Subconscious weaves fast

When slumber does break, I
Breath hard and sweat bathed, I
Fear to stand still, I
Fear in "sweet" sleep.

Torture this mind, with
Hate and regret, oh
Show me no mercy
To this feeble me!

No fingers on flesh, You
Can't touch this, lest you
Find form out of my
Dangerous dream…

(Instrumental)

When slumber does break, I
Breath hard and sweat bathed, O
Why is my mind,
Slumped low to the ground?

Tell me O slumber
How can this dream be?
I am so fragile
Why does this haunt me?

No fingers on flesh, You
Can't touch this, lest you
Find form out of my
Dangerous dream…
