The Prison Of My Sleep

Everynight I give myself
To the prison of my sleep
The checkered pillows in my bedroom
Are like a soft unbreakable tomb
It keeps me locked away
For hours upon end
But sometimes I wish to stay
For into dreams I descend
The Sandmans little tricks
Keep me locked away
Though I may choose to leave
He does not heed my calls
This morning I wished to wake
But arise I did not
I missed the games and the fun
Because the taskmaster of sleep
Would not let me arise
