*POLICY* I
am happy to share my synopsis with other pages, however all I ask for is some
credit. If you would like to use my summaries on your page, please ask first.
If you don't feel like e-mailing me, at least link to my page from your site.
I just like to know that they're not going to be ripped off, and I will always
let people use them if they ask. Also, if anyone knows of a page that has ripped
off my summaries, please contact me about that.
*SPELLING AND
GRAMMAR* I have gone over most of the summaries for mistakes, however there
still may be quite a few I've missed. I'm sure there are no significant errors,
so for all your purists out there please don't fault me for stupid mis-spellings
thanks.
*ABBREVIATIONS*
Due to laziness, I went a little lax on typing out the full names of some characters
and things in the synopsis. So there is no confusion, here's a list of them:
(real name/abbreviation) Tamahome/Tama, Hotohori/Hoto, Mitsukake/Mits, Nakago/Nak,
Keisuke/Kei, and Taiisukun/Taii. Also, since "The Universe of Four Gods"
got annoying to write over and over again, I abbreviate it as "TUOFG".
*TRANSLATION*
I wrote these summaries before Fushigi Yuugi became commercial. Because my copies
were fansubbed, some episode titles may vary in translation from the commercial
subs. This also goes for the spelling of names and places. I haven't seen the
commercial subs so I can't think of any differences in particular. Let me also
note here that I used a couple terms that some may not know the meaning off
in many of the summaries: "Baka" means stupid, dummy, or idiot and
"LOL" is internet language for "laugh out loud".
*CHARACTER
PRONOUNCIATION* As you are reading along, you may wonder how exactly characters
pronounce their names. Here I'll list how to pronounce them phonetically, however
there may be some errors because Japanese don't make the "R" sound
like we do. It sounds more like "L". (this is sometimes known as "Engrish"
^_^) Here's how I pronounce them, so if someone finds a major error let me know
so I can correct it: Miaka/Mee-ah-kah, Yui/You-ee, Tamahome/Tah-mah-home-ae,
Hotohori/Hoe-toe-hore-ee, Nuriko/New-ree-ko, Chichiri/Chee-chee-ree, Tasuki/Tahs-kee,
Mitsukake/Mits-kock-ae, Chiriko/chee-ree-ko, Nakago/Nah-kah-go, Amiboshi/Ah-mee-boe-shee,
Suboshi/Sue-boe-shee, Soi/Soy, Ashitare/Ash-tare, Tomo/Toe-moe, Miboshi/Mee-boe-shee,
Taiisukun/Tie-ee-sue-kun, Nyan Nyan/Nee-yahn Nee-yahn, Keisuke/Ke-sue-kay, Tetsuya/Tet-sue-yah
*MORE ON KEISUKE
AND TETSUYA* When I composed these summaries, I didn't quite grasp what Keisuke
and Tetsuya were doing some of the time because they're scenes weren't usually
long and they did a LOT of running around and talking in those short scenes.
I didn't quite make it too clear in the individual summaries exactly what they
were doing (or maybe I did, but not good enough), so here I will explain their
part in the story: Keisuke took over as narrator of the novel when Yui and Miaka
were both Mikos in the book. On his way out of the library, he meets up with
his friend Tetsuya, who also becomes involved in reading the book. They do some
research on the book and find out that the author killed his daughter and then
himself...but why? It is uncovered that the author's daughter was the first
Miko of the book, Genbu No Miko. It is said that after a Miko makes the last
of her 3 wishes, her body is devoured by her God, in other words, she is a sacrifice.
The author, to prevent his daughting from becoming Genbu's sacrifice, he killed
his daughter himself, and committed suicide soon after. After learning this,
Keisuke realizes that Miaka is going to become a sacrifice to Suzaku if she
calls him. After a failed attempt to get Miaka to come back home, they venture
to the home of Byakko No Miko, who is dying. When she dies, and they see her
spirit and the spirit of Tatara reunite, Keisuke is extremely touched by the
fact that their love surpassed death...and he thinks in regards to Tamahome
and Miaka's love. As the climax of the show approaches, the real world and the
book world become mixed up, thanks to Tamahome accidentally traveling to the
real world with Miaka. This makes Keisuke and Tetsuya characters in the book
as well, and all their conversations and actions appear in the book as they
are being carried out! With almost all hope lost, Keisuke yells into the book
asking Tasuki and Chichiri to come to real world to save Miaka, which they do.
