(Sorry, I'm sticking to the english names cause that's all I've seen)
In the world of Pokemon, young kids set out with a starter Pokemon to become Masters, and find themselves in the world. Ash Ketchum dreams of becoming the best, but slept in so instead of getting the suggested Pokemon of Squirtle, Charmander, or Bulbasaur, he gets stuck with a stubborn Pikachu, a Pokemon who's not too thrilled with its new trainer. But after a "shocking" experience with a flock of spearow (I believe a Fearow in the manga), they're best friends! Later, Ash joins up with Misty, a gym leader of Ceruilian City, and Brock, the gym leader of Peweter City. But there are obsticles on the road to greatness, Ash! First, he recieves trouble continously from Team Rocket, a band of Pokemon theives who want Pikachu, and then there's his rival Gary Oak. Along his journey Ash catches more Pokemon and makes new friends and rivals. When they meet Prof. Ivy though, Brock, know for his liking of pretty women, stays to be her assistant, and a new guy joins the team: Tracey, a Pokemon observer. What will await Ash on his adventures?

Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town

Ash has always dreamed of becoming a Pokemon trainer, but when he stayed up too late and overslept...he got stuck with a Pikachu that wasn't too thrilled with its new trainer. But after a deadly encounter with a flock of Spearow, Ash and Pika are best buds. By "borrowing" a girl named Misty's bike to try to escape from the Spearow, he's stuck with her because he killed it! And Misty is not one to back down from an I.O.U.. Next, Ash met up with Pewter City gym leader Brock, how hopes to be a Pokemon breeder, but for now sets his goals on spotting attractive young women. Ash is always tormented by the deviase Team Rocket, who's part of an organization of Pokemon thieves. T. Rocket is always coming up with ways to steal Ash's unnaturally strong Pikachu. After Brock decides to stay and work with Prof. Ivy, a guy named Tracey-a Pokemon watcher-joins Ash's team. Ash's biggest rival even as children was Gary Oak, and one day hopes to get better than him. Ash has a nag for seeing rare Pokemon but is a great trainer and friend.

Misty Waterflower of Cerulean City

She first met Ash when she caught him and Pikachu while fishing, and wouldn't you know it: he stole her bike and killed it! So now, she's following him around, making the excuse that she won't leave him till he pays her for her bike. Misty is the youngest of the family of four, but is nonetheless a gym leader of Cerlean City. She's an expert in water-type Pokemon but takes care of Togepi, an egg Pokemon, who; when first hatched saw Misty's face and decided she was its mother. Although she has a bad temper and a bad Ash-hitting/insulting-streak most of the time, she can be a good and caring friend. She cares for Ash a lot (although tries not to show it), but at the same time has to keep Ash and especially Brock in line. Whenever Brock is head-over-heels over a pretty face, it's up to Misty to shack him back into reality by the ear.

Team Rocket

Jessie, James, and Meowth, the perfect team...except...their performence stinks. They are the lowest classed Rockets in the business, but make a good couple..er..uh...trio. They constantly try to steal Ash's Pikachu for their boss, thinking that it was some unusually strong power, but try as they might, they always seem to fail. Jessie was born a poor girl and decided to join the Rockets to earn extra cash; but James on the other hand joined to get away from his fiancee and meddlesome parents (he was born rich). As for Meowth, he just joined, but learned to speak the human language to impress a female kitty. Team Rocket follow Ash and his group around everywhere, and even meet up with him unexpectedly sometimes.
