Subject: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
Dear Sir or Madam:
I have included my resume as well as a summary of completion statements as a first step to exploring the possibilities of obtaining this particular position with your company. I believe my training, education, experience, and enthusiasm qualify me for the position of Information Technology Specialist.
I will be receiving my B.S. degree in Information Systems Fall of 2001. I have been recognized as a very dedicated student while working full time throughout my 3 years of college. Despite this feat in itself, I have always managed my time wisely and met deadlines for certain projects that pertain to both school and work while going above and beyond expectations.
I feel I would be an excellent asset in the position of Information Technology Specialist because I have the skills and enthusiasm to work with internal and external customers, as well as fellow employees and managers in many different situations. I feel that my strong academic performance, extensive computer background, work ethics, as well as my personality prepared me well for such an opportunity. I would appreciate the chance to discuss how I might further explore my abilities, and passion for computers that might contribute as an Information Technologist Specialist through a personal interview.
I thank you in advance for your consideration. I look forward to talking with you.
Sincerely,
Eric W. LaPorte

OBJECTIVE:
SUMMARY:
EDUCATION: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (U.C.C.S)
COMPUTER SKILLS:
PROFESSIONAL Assistant Data Processing Coordinator 1997-PRESENT
EXPERIENCE: UCCS Financial Aid Office
COMPLETION STATEMENTS:
INSTALLATION:
Problem: Older version of Novel running 29 P.C.’s off a single coaxial cable created great amount of lag time due to traffic overload and would often disconnect users from the network due to server crashes or weather problems.
Solution: Converted the office of Financial Aid from a Novel network to an NT network. Rerouted a coaxial cable per server and set up each workstation with its own line to the server.
Outcome: Saved approximately $5,000 laying cable, cutting through walls, and installing cables into the separate 29 workstations. Improved productivity by 70% by omitting severe lag time and the possibility of being disconnected off the network. (Installed hardware such as power supplies, hard drives, modems, sound, and network cards as well as countless application programs.)
PROBLEM SOLVING:
Problem: Collecting information on incoming students through a database was very tedious and time-consuming resulting in many inaccuracies.
Solution: Using knowledge from COBOL, C++, and Microsoft Access, I helped build an application program that selected each incoming student, checked for the appropriate criteria, printed out a report, imported the report into Microsoft Word, and created a document that was to be distributed to the selected students.
Outcome: Increased accuracy by 50% and productivity time by approximately four hours.
TEAM WORK:
Problem: To research a company and develop a complex overall report on how the company works internally and how it focuses on its employees and customers while achieving a significant overall satisfaction.
Solution: Divided each aspect of the report to an individual and set an agenda along with meetings to report progress. Constructive feedback was given along with suggestions/ideas to better the project
Outcome: 100% satisfaction by all members of the group along with a very desirable product. (A+)
