Excoriation

TECHNICAL TERM..... Is a skin sore or abrasion produced by scratching or scraping.

An excoriation is a scratch mark. It may be a linear erosion or a picked scratch as in the illustrated picture. Excoriations may occur in the absence of a primary dermatosis.
