| Thursday October 19 2000 Hi everyone, Everything is going very well and even better more and more. I'm starting using to the idea, that I wil stay away so long...HIHI, I like it very much. By the way, Egypt is a very nice and warm country, but I tell you, two weeks is enough. It's rather poor and dirty here, but even that has his attraction. I already received a proposal to a marriage with five camels as a present. And when they hear that you're from Netherland, most of them say: "machtig alleprachtig." (mighty allsplendid"). And now something about the journey: Monday went to Philea in Aswan, there is a very beautiful tempel and later on the day with a falouka (= a kind of sailing boat) floated on the Nile to the house of Captain Jamaica, where we drank tea and ate with carpets on the floor. Bit by bit I'm fed up with the little falafel breads (fortunately there is a MAC in Luxor) and we also smoked the water pipe, which tastes rather good. Tuesday we spent a lovely day on the falouka on the Nile. Whole day long sailing and lying in the sun. In the evening made a camp fire and afterwards we slept on the falouka and floated in the direction of Kom Ombo where we woke up next morning. Again visited a few tempels (gradually I know how they're looking) and via Edfu in convoy driven to Luxor, which is a small paradise with a reasonable clean hotel with swimming pool on the roof. Because on wednesday it was my birthday, in the evening we went to a restaurant with the entire group and there they sang for me and I got a fancy cake with a little candle on it and I also got a lovely necklace. Today we had to get up early, because we made a trip through the mountains on a donkey!! HIHI, was very funny, but very warm too, veeeeeeery very warm and tiring. Of course on our way visited a temple again and in the Valley of the Kings visited a tomb from one or an other pharao (I'm sorry, it seems I'm uninterested, but it isn't, only their are soooooooooooo many temples and tombs here, that I've seen them already I think and all those names of those pharaos, I don't remember them you know). Well, tonight I'm going to eat in the MAC!!! YIPPEE! Guys, thanks for all those mails and till soon, Es. |
