| Nathalie & Melvin: They talked about errors and mistakes. Their goals was to teach other about mistakes. Everybody is human and we all make mistakes. It is good to realize that you can learn from your mistakes. They showed us some quotes and they were really nice. They weren' very clear, that was a shame, but it was a nice presentation and it is good to realize that you can always learn from mistakes and that others have some problems with language too. Anne Wil & Larissa: They talked about slang. They let us listen to Ali G, that was nice. Then they let us guess what some slang words meant. It was a nice presentation, although they read a lot from their paper, that was a shame. We liked it thought, because there really was interaction with the class. Paul & Yul: Their presentation was about dictionaries. They gave a history about a dictionary and they handed out an assignment, which was a nice one. It was a good presentation with nice information. Gonda & Manon: Their presentation was about Dunglish. English that looked like Dutch ( not good English ). They told us a little about it and they gave us a piece of text with Dunglish on it. It was a really good presentation, it was fun. Gonda took over when Manon got sick, that was really good as well. Bart & Lukas: They did a presentation about proverbs and sayings. They explained something about those two and after that they did an assignment. We all had to guess what the sentences meant. They checked it afterwards. It was a good presentation, they had nice information and they did an assignment which was fun. Dianne & Annet: They did a presentation about all sorts of different Dutch dialects. They told us about it and explained some things about it. They showed us some Vriezeveens dialect and we had to guess what it meant. That was fun. After that they showed us some African words and we had to guess what they meant. They really looked like Dutch. It was a good presentation. It was fun and the information was nice as well. Tom & Linda: They did a presentation about sexism in language. They discussed why it should be avoided or not. Then they did an assignment asking us not to use sexism language. Change man into person for example. It was nice, but they could have prepared it better. Natalie & Ellen: They did a presentation about puns. Those are jokes which are hidden in words and language. They told us about it and they showed us some examples. After that they let us do an assignment in which we had to find the name of places. They were hidden in a sentence. It was really fun and the assignment was difficult. They also had lots of good and interesting information. Annette & Laura: Their presentation was about the history of the English language. It is kind of interesting to know how the language existed. They had a lot of information and an activity. They were well prepared. Ben & Marloes: We didn't see their presentation. Their site is not finished also, so we cannot say anything about it yet. |
