Question #1:
When did you become a Christian and why?
There is no actual “dramatic” turning point in my life where/when I became a Christian …..Being a CHRISTIAN sounds so …textbook and Sunday school to me …For me…its more of a relationship with the creator …the one who formed me and knew me even before I was born …
I was raised in a christian home and I have gone to church ever since I could breathe …=P So I knew every little Bible story and cute little Sunday school song by heart …but I never knew what they meant ….I always just thought …”Oh ya …that’s nice …this guy with a beard named Jesus loves me ….woopeedoo”
I guess you could say I was pretty apathetic about my “faith” until my teenage years ….It was mainly through PCA that I came to know who God really was in a personal way ….he was no longer only the cartoon character in the Bible movies ….he is and always will be my Savior …the one who loved me enough to endure the cross for my sins …..
I never actually CRIED physically …but deep inside my heart ….I had a sense of sorrowful gratitude (It was probably at this point that I accepted Jesus into mylife) …Why would this Jesus would love me so much?! ….That this “stranger dude”would die in my place so I wouldn’t have to spend an eternity in hell …He loved me first …and I am going to live the rest of my life for him

Question #2:
How has your life changed ever since? Or how would your life be different if you weren't a Christian?
Ohhhh dear =) I’m afraid I would be quite the scary person if I wasn’t a Christian ...I would either be a really hopelessly depressed person …or I would be some crazy criminal …
I would see life as ...a pinball machine ...and the life that I have is the token that is needed to play the pinball machine …I only have one token ...and therefore I can only play once …and once I finish my game …it’s game over …and once it’s game over … it's game over …no more continues =P (ha I play too much Nintendo) So I’m going to do whatever is necessary to obtain the “maximum fun” possible out of my game of pinball (life) …I don’t care how many people I hurt ..or how many people I step on ..because in the end ..it doesn’t matter …it's game over for everybody anyways …
And oh …if you try and stop me from having my ONE game of pinball …I will do everything and anything in my power to HAVE my ONE game of pinball …even if it means ending your game of pinball .. This is the sad but true reality of what my life would be like without Jesus … BUT Now……Jesus has saved my soul …he has shown me that there are actually “continues” I know that after this one game of pinball (my life on earth) ends …I am going to share a bazillion games of pinball with Jesus in heaven …because he is the only one that can offer me tokens to infinity and beyond (eternal life)
(haha sorry guys ..forgive my childish analogy ..but I’ve had this analogy with me since I was …a child).

Question #3:
How has God been real to you? Or how do you know that God exists?

When I was a kid …an unbelieving kid…I saw the verse
Malachi 3:10
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
And I thought …”Ya friggin right God! Give me a break! Test you?! Fine! I will!”
(I was about 9 years old at that time) So I gathered up all the money I had in the world …which was about $110.24 (I don’t remember the exact number) …and I put it into the church offering without telling anyone … Later that afternoon …my grandpa gave me a cheque (for no reason) for EXACTLY $1102.40 (Heh now that I think of it …that was a reverse tithing ! hehe) …..I think I almost cried …not because I was the richest kid on the block …but because God had humored a little child and gracefully showed him that ….”Yes I am real and I do care that you…Brent Chan … know that”
That was kind of the beginning point for me …where I knew that God wasn’t just this almighty powerful genie (I used to think of God like the big red genie Jaffar in Aladdin) ….but he was a loving God who cared about me …..And throughout my life …there have been so many instances where God has proven his faithfulness time and time again …even when I’m an idiot …..even when I totally don’t deserve it …even when I betray him ….He loves me still.

Question #4:
What is your favourite verse and why?

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Because everytime I think I’m screwed ..I know God is in total control.

Question #5:
How have you struggled spiritually?
Ooohhh …in high school …my faith was really shaken because I really couldn’t understand the concept of predestination …(I won't get into it now) but ya that really really hit me hard …After that “shake” I didn’t even want to pray anymore. …But God is slowly teaching me…

Question #6:
What is the most challenging aspect about being a Christian?
Honestly … I think we have it pretty sweet here in North America ..or at least I have … I went to PCA for 14 years ..so I was pretty sheltered from the real world …At PCA it was just a time where I could learn and be nurtured spiritually …and now that I’m out of PCA …I think I’m still pretty lucky …God has blessed me with so many Christian friends …so in that sense ..it's not difficult because I have so much support … BUT For my own personal struggle ..it's just my own relationship with God ..spending quality time with God ..its honestly hard sometimes because we cannot see, hear or touch God …so it all comes down to my faith …which is lacking at times =) But ya …lately I am growing closer to him everyday through diligent devotions. =)

Question #7:
What is the best thing about being a Christian?

*heheh big smile* LIFE, HOPE , JOY , A TRUE AND LOVING FATHER, ETERNITY WITH JESUS IN HEAVEN, so many things …my life is worth the living just because he (Jesus) lives …
Oh ya ..and ahem …all the single Christian LADIES! =P oOOo-RIGht! Oh dear …this is supposed to be a testimony =)

Question #8:
Describe your relationship with God.
It was very “distant” for a very long time …I felt as if God was this almighty God somewhere above outer space ..looking down on us puny insignificant humans … but lately …God and I have been closing the gap …we are on a more intimate and close level …It's just like a friend …you spend more time with them and you get to know them better and the relationship just grows and flourishes.

Question #9:
Who is Jesus to you?
My Savior …Lord and King.

Question #10:
Have you ever doubted your beliefs?
Yup refer to question #5.

Question #11:
What strengthens you spiritually?
Fellowship with other brothers and sisters! …It's like ..isolated and alone we are little sparks in this dark world …but together we become this huge bonfire …where we all strengthen and encourage each other.

Question #12:
What does being a Christian entail?
Living for the glory of God …wow but that entails a lot of things ..let me see if I can summarize it in this verse:
1 Corinthians 9:20-27
20"To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. 22To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. 23I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. 24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
Life on this earth is only temporary ….so I guess speaking from a fleshy perspective …it entails denying the temporary pleasures of this world (although honestly sometimes they are so tempting). And instead we are to be God’s light in this world …To carry out the great commission that Jesus gave us.

Question #13:
Do you have any prayer requests?
Oh my cousin …he has some serious back problems that may require surgery ..ai ai ai ya …Please pray for his healing, For my own relationship with God …that it would become more real intimate and close …

Question #14:
If you could send a message to someone who is exploring Christianity, what would it be?
Matthew 7:7-8
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
