La-5When it was ordained to change the engine Klimov of the hunter-bomber LaGG-3 by a Shvetsov M-82 with cylinders in star was increased its power of very notable way and an excellent airplane was achieved, La-5. It began to fly in March 1942 as prototype.

The manufacture, which extended until the end of 1944, gave place to a whole of 9.920 airplanes, distributed in several versions. An engine M-82A capably of developing a power of 1.480 CV took la-5 basic. Other versions were La-5F, with an engine M-82F later replaced with one Ash-82F, LA-5FN type 41, which was incorporating metal wings in substitution of those of wood of previous models, and La-5UTI, thought like plane of training of which were made scarce devices.
