| Elves are the highest race found in Middle-Earth. They are masters of lore, love to sing and dance, and be around nature. Full of wisdom, elves are the race that feel the deepest joy and sorrow. They are immortal beings but can be killed in battle. | |||||||||
| There are two forms of Elvish spoken most commonly in Tolkien's books. Quenya, which is high elven, mostly spoken only in song and at ceremonies, and Sindarin, also called Grey-elven. Sindarin was the common form of Elvish in the third age, the time of the elves and when Sauran rose to power. Elves can choose to go to the Grey Havens if they tire of thier time on Middle-Earth. It is a country across the sea; an elven paradise of sorts. However, once they leave Middle-Earth and travel to the Grey Havens, they cannot return to Middle-Earth again. This is what Celebrain, wife of Elrond chose to do, and after the defeat of Sauron, what Elrond, Galadriel, and Celebron did as well. Elves are know for their keen sight and hearing. They are expert warriors and can travel through a forest without making a sound. |
