Belmont Stakes RESULTS

Welcome to the Belmont Stakes! The third and final race in the Equine Sense
Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes, or the “Run for the Carnations”, as it is
affectionately known, takes place at the Belmont Track in New York. It is also
the longest of the three races, covering a distance of One and a Half miles.

The Post Positions:

1.	Icharus
2.	CJS Purple Heaven
3.	Perfect Unage
4.	Madame Toubinski
5.	Scorching Might
6.	Golden’s Local Star
7.	Run for the Money
8.	Moon Dance Eclips

And as they line up for the starting gate, it’s Icharus starting the trouble,
with a few playful bucks before he goes in. CJS Purple Heaven, Perfect Unage,
Madame Toubinski and Scorching Might have no problem, but Golden’s Local Star
acts up and balks a bit before allowing herself to be led in. Run for the Money
and Moon Dance Eclips are in.

	And they’re off! And it’s Golden’s Local Star off quickly, Moon Dance Eclips
settling in second just behind, Icharus beaks clean, as does Perfect Unage.
Scorching Might is picking up stride for his usual speedy beginnings, while CJS
Purple Heaven settles back. Run for the Money and Madame Toubinski are off slow!
Some battling going on here, Scorching Might is trying to pass Perfect Unage,
who is unwilling to give up his position, and the two of them are bearing down
on the heels of Icharus!

	Now rounding the first turn, Icharus has been set off by the duels behind him,
and has charged into the lead! Golden’s Local Star remains behind him, and
Madame Toubinski has made up excellent ground, now trying to get to the top. Run
for the Money has not been left behind, and Moon Dance Eclips has not made a
move. Scorching Might has been checked in an effort to reserve him, Perfect
Unage and CJS Purple Heaven have dropped back to the rear.

	And now in the backstretch, Madame Toubinski has taken her favourite position
of the speedball! She’s setting a nice pace, with Icharus hot on her heels, and
Run for the Money right behind them. Scorching Might has pulled forward, with
Moon Dance Eclips still running easily. Perfect Unage right behind, Golden’s
Local Star has dropped back to seventh, with CJS Purple Heaven still running at
the back. Uh oh, Run for the Money has pulled even with Madame Toubinski and
Icharus, and the three are fighting for first! They’re really running hard, and
Scorching Might and Moon Dance Eclips are forced to speed up to stay with them,
and a chain reaction follows!

	Now in the final turn, entering the final stretch, its Moon Dance Eclips! She
has simply burst from behind Scorching Might, into her usual fast closing style!
She has her nose in front of Scorching Might, who has followed in her wake!
Golden’s Local Star also making her move, with Madame Toubinski trying to catch
them up! Perfect Unage now passing Run for the Money, Icharus next. The three
duelers were caught unprepared for the closers, and now have to pay for the
mistake! CJS Purple Heaven still at the back.

	And nearing the final stretch, its now Scorching Might whose nose is in front!
Perfect Unage has been gaining, but look who’s in gear! CJS Purple Heaven making
a late move, passing right by Icharus! Madame Toubinski also trying to gain
ground, but Moon Dance Eclips appears to be slowing down! Run for the Money is
worn out, but still trying, keeping his nose in front on Golden’s Local
Star….and they’re under the wire! Eh, Moon Dance Eclips has been pulled up, and
a vet is running over…looks as if she has strained a tendon. How unfortunate
that it should happen during the Belmont!
