Getting past the moving cylinder on the Carnival Night zone Introduction: The number of people who have asked me this question is unbelievable! Generally speaking, this is also the most commonly asked question about the Sonic 3 game, so if you still don’t know how to do this, then don’t feel ashamed! How to do it: When you get to the part of Carnival Night zone with a cylinder that moves up and down against a wall, it will seem at first that you can’t get past it. But fear not! Simply push ‘up’ when the cylinder moves upwards, and push ‘down’ when the cylinder moves downwards. By doing this, the cylinder’s trajectory will increase – in other words it will go further upwards and further downwards each time. Eventually you will travel far enough to see a gap in the wall. Jump into it, and then you can carry on with the zone. Quick Goodies: At the start of Angel Island, kill the monkey in the tree and jump on the first grey rock to reveal a bumper spring. Bounce up into the tree, and using the bumper spring hidden in the tree, bounce left to land on the moving platform. The platform will take you to a ring bonus and lightning shield power-up. Using the spring in the tree again, bounce right to land on ground with spikes and a RhinoBot. Jump past these to collect the fire shield. When this is collected, Sonic can use the fire dash attack by pressing C twice. Many rings: At the end of Icecap act 2, shortly before you reach Robotnik, you will see a ramp. Spin dash and fly off this ramp onto one of the purple trampolines (familiar throughout the zone). Bounce up on this trampoline to see a large number of rings. Bounce high enough to find another whole set of rings. Go to the right far enough to find a big special stage ring. |
