Galerie Squat
Galerie Squat is a project by the Future Arts Collective to provide young artists in Montreal a space to show their work without having to pay a gallery rent or any commission on their sales. Galerie Squat is an artist-run space that will be having shows every week throughout January and through to the spring. The goal is to choose one night, either Thursday or Friday, and have a vernissage each week on that particular day. Dave and Matt's show in October was an experiment to see if this project could work, and due to the great turnout and great vibe at the show we're going ahead and trying to see if Galerie Squat can work. The mandate of the space is that there is no rental fee for an artist to pay to show work there, Galeire Squat won't take any money if work is sold, and Galerie Squat will help with the mounting of the show as well as advertisement, entertainment, or anything else the artists need help with.
