Lasik Laser Eye Surgery Machine This was a large electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical assembly. Sheet metal enclosures, plastic cover panels, PCB cards, lasers, lenses, and wire harness were all modeled using SolidWorks and EMbassyWorks. Schematic capture data was used to generate a net-list for the wire harness. Connectors with pin point attachments were defined. The wires were routed through the virtual assembly, determining optimum path to avoid interferences, EMI and thermal considerations, and exact wire length. Design rule checks were run on the CAD model to correct any issues prior to harness fabrication and volume construction. Harness design, testing, and installation was completed in 10 days vs. three months, allowing the prototype to quickly meet FDA regulation deadlines and pass for commercial use production of the device. |
