Instument Panels

For automotive and aerospace, instrumentation panels are large electro-mechanical assemblies requiring the knowledge of several disciplines to design a user-interface between man and machine that works under all circumstances.

Hundreds of parts must fit into a compact package without interfering with each other. Proper clearances must be confirmed to avoid EMI and Thermal degradation of performance. Vision studies determine the placement of instruments so that they are visible to the operator. Ergonomic studies are done to determine accessibility to controls for gloved and ungloved hands. Occupant impact studies (automotive crash tests) are done to verify that the design is in compliance with federal, international, and industrial regulations.
