Knives and swords are constantly being used in many forms of rituals for many
disciplines. Making your own is a tedious process, but is well worth the effort.
1) Find a piece of metal you wish to use (car springs work well)
2) Cut out the shape of the blade desired using a cutting torch, jigsaw, (or
having it done for you) be sure to leave a tong to attach the handle to.
3) Using a large tooth metal file shape the piece of metal to standards (edge, take out
burrs)
4) Make an oak, hazelwood, or walnut flame, heat the blade until red hot with
a yellow edge (you will of course need tongs for this)
5) Place the blade in room temperature oil (the oil will pop so be careful!)
6) Fine tune the edge and shape with a fine metal file.
7) Attach a pre-carved handle (with bolts, screws or leather wrap)
I realize this seems like a bit much to go through for a ritual tool, but
the net effect on your rituals is astounding. Be sure to take your time and do it right!
For more information on making blades you can consult your local library or surf it out!
Before I forget, there is a group if armsmakers that go by the name of "Otismen"
They are dedicated to the creation of beautiful and very functional weapons. See about
finding one! Admittedly you will pay top dollar for their work, but there is no better in
the world to my knowledge!
